although they are two vastly different cities, i have noticed that dc and nyc have a shared characteristic.  it is remarkable to notice the extent to which the cities' inhabitants will go to in order to protest on behalf of that which they believe.

this guy was standing in front of the supreme court with three other people.  since it was early on a sunday morning, the streets were empty and the supreme court was closed.  yet the lack of "attention" did not prevent these people from protesting against abortion.  they stood like statues, with red tape over their mouths and bibles in their hands, for hours on end.  initally i was not certain as to why they would protest on a day when the court was closed, but in the end i came to realize that perhaps they were out there for themselves and their personal beliefs.

I suppose people will make their protests when they can, and if they're working it can't always be during the week.

Good shot, thoughtful
nicole limperopulos: hey ellie,

you are right. perhaps they have school, work, or other obligations during the week. i really hadn't even thought of that. but the thing that i love the most about this shot is that these people have the right to protest, and given the fact that thousands of people die each day, throughout the world, while simply attempting to express their opinions and beliefs.
